Competitive and strategic intelligence is defined as the systematic research and interpretation of accessible information, in order to decode the stakeholders’ intentions and determine their capacities of action. The main purpose is to gain a competitive advantage.

From a methodological point of view, the competitive and strategic intelligence is based on an acknowledged approach: the intelligence cycle. This method consists of four successive steps:
